Our Core Team
My name is Shandy Boyce Campos I am 28 years old , was born and raised in the Slocan Valley, BC, Canada. I am part owner and events manager within BC Action Adventure Services. My love is to snowboarding and exploring untapped terrain. Most influential rider was Craig Kelly I was also lucky enough to go on a shred trip with him in the Kootenays, this was my best trip ever. My experiences are as a professional snowboarder for 10 years as well terrain scout, events manager and coordinator. This is my life long dream is to start a tour assisting company, build lodge( which is coming next year) and assist groups into areas never shredded before. Our Team is made up of 99% Kootenay blood as we were almost all born here and hold a rare Kootenay status card this team is Kootenays. If you want access to the Kootenays we are the team to make it happen as we are just there to keep everyone safe, having fun and getting shit don.
I grew up in the small town of Nelson B.C. right in the middle of the Kootenays. For a little kid this was paradise everything you ever wanted to do was here right at your finger tips. Started out probably like every other kid playing sports, going to school, getting a fish on and just having fun. Nelson was a great place to grow up, lots of good people, a beautiful place and a laid back life style. Summers where great and winters, well they where epic, summer was all about mountain biking, fishing, hiking, or just hanging on the beach or maybe tubing down the Slocan river. Winters where all about the local ski hill or GT'ing through the streets of Nelson Through my teen years I started racing mountain bikes and started snowboarding, this in turn changed everything racing went out the window and becoming a ski bum is what followed. After school was over tree planting was the way of life in the summer which then gave you the EI ski team pass for the winter. The rest is, well you will just have to come and enjoy life with us in the Koots.
My name is Scott Penner, my home town Prince Albert Saskatchewan, home residents Slocan Valley and I'm the only outsider ever to receive a Kootenay status card. I met Shandy when he was 16 years old ben 17 we were shredding the deepest of the deep back then as we do now the last 12 years have drifted away into a shred blur. Shandy coming through yearly with various different film crews on his own projects. Talk of a starting our own tour business had always been a subject and starting becoming more of one in the recent days. We thought who better then us. BC Action Adventure Services was born. We thought this was our opportunity to start a business selling our experiences and the terrain we had explored. Many years of exploring the kootenay backcountry has put us in many different situations now we want to sell our experiences of deep pow and unexplored terrain with all of you.
Our Safety Personnel
Caleb Patterson: Born, Nelson BC. Favorite thing to do is snowboard and climb in the mountains around the Kootenays. Eight years in the backcountry guiding and snow safety industry. Experienced rigger for film work and tree climbing. Most influencial riders, Craig Kelly, Devun Walsh and that crazy dude in Trout Lake with no binders! Life long aspirations are to never grow up, grow my own food and still be on a snow or surf board till i'm eighty. The best session is the one with no beginning and no end! This is the best crew I have ever worked with, shit gets done and everyone makes their own decisions, were just there to help out and see the vision through.
